I Love This Kid

Preson and I went to the park after school on Tuesday. We had such a great time playing together. I swear I pushed him on the swings until my arms were sore. I wish I could just keep him this age. He's so much fun!!!

Bad Hair

When I got home this morning I was EXHAUSTED, so when it came time to go to church Chris didn't even bother trying to wake me up. When they got home, I saw that he had let her do her own hair. Oh heaven help her. He said that the Relief Society president went up to him and asked where I was. He explained that I had worked last night and so he decided to let me sleep. She looked at Morgan and said, "Oooohhhh, well it was nice of you to get them ready all by yourself." It doesn't look too horrible in the pictures but trust me... IT WAS BAD!!! haha

SLC

We had the best weekend!! It started Friday when Chris took the afternoon off, and we pulled the kids out of school (this NEVER happens) We packed the car and drove to Salt Lake City. We stopped at Mayan Adventure for dinner. I can't even describe the look on Preston's face when we walked into the dining area. His jaw just DROPPED! SO CUTE!! They have divers that perform throughout dinner, and we were sitting close enough that we were getting splashed! The kids had a great time!!! The food is horrible but the ambiance is amazing. Here's a picture of the kids outside of Mayan Adventure.
After dinner, we went to the hotel. My kids get ridiculously excited about hotels. They were cracking us up, running around checking everything out! Even Shelby loved it.
Saturday morning we went to Utah's Hogle Zoo. They had a blast!!!! I've taken the girls several times and Preston once, but this was the first time Chris has been able to go with us. They each have their favorite exhibits. (Preston- the reptiles, Morgan-penguins, Shelby-giraffes)

Hogle Zoo has several new babies. These were our faves by far. The baby elephant could barely even walk. Chris got a kick out of all of the women that were standing around us (myself included) because of all of the "Awe... look how cute it is!" I had to endure some serious mockery haha!!!
After the zoo, we went to the "Jana" portion of the trip.... i.e. IKEA and The Quilted Bear!!!! And of course no trip to Salt Lake would be complete without a stop at Cabelas (oh joy) We got home just in time for me to throw everybody out of the car and head to work. Everyone had a great time and it was SOOOOOO nice to finally spend a little time as a family!

Bathroom

As promised, here are pictures of the only room in the house that is completely done. The living room and dining room are basically done. I'm just waiting on the blinds and curtains and when I get those, I'll post pictures. I love the new shower curtain (even though you can totally see the creases in it... I was not going to take the time to iron the shower curtain. They can just steam out! Yeah, Yeah I know.... girl.. country... bite me! lol) I've become a total convert to Park Designs linens and the pictures are by Jim Daly (LOVE HIS STUFF)

Random Update

Since it's already starting to get cold at night and in the mornings, I thought I'd go with the quilt look for the new background. I'm dreading winter already!!! The kids are ALREADY having to wear jackets to the bus stop in the mornings. And I dang near froze at the soccer game tonight. Why can't we have spring all year round, dang it!!!
It's been a crazy week at the Haycock house, but I'm not going to blog about all of the crap going on. Instead I'm going to focus on the good stuff!!!! Like..... WE'RE SUPPOSED TO CLOSE ON THE HOUSE TOMORROW!!! The only thing that could be more exciting than that is the fact that I get to decorate this weekend. WOOHOO!!! Chris won't let me hang anything on the walls until we close, so I still have boxes upon boxes of decorations shoved against the walls. (Yes, Charon I'll post pictures as I get rooms finished, and I got a sign to go between the fireplace and mantle just for you haha)
Random: I found this picture of my mom the other day. It's not the one I was looking for, but it's one of the very few that I have of her. I thought it was cute so I figured I'd put it on here. I'm finally at a point that I THINK I can hang a picture of her in my house without breaking down. I'd give anything to be able to celebrate all the big stuff happening in our lives with her. I know she'd be so excited for us.
I swear I don't remember the sun being so bright, but in all of the pictures I found, everyone is squinting.... oh well!
(p.s. if any of my family wants a copy of this let me know and I'll email it to you)

"TWINNERS"...wait... no "QUADDERS"??

These girls seriously make me laugh! I wish you all could have heard them planning their outfits yesterday. These 4 have become quite inseparable. Shelby and her friend Chloe have been in the same class for all 3 years. Morgan and Sasha are on their 2nd year together. I think my ears are still ringing from the squeals when they found out that we would be neighbors. It’s been so great to have friends so close. If your local, Sonda (Chloe and Sasha’s mom) is teaching a parenting skills class so check out her website www.yourstrongfamily.com

Also, (this is mainly for Grandma Charlene) Morgan went back to the eye Dr. today and she is 1/2 as near sighted as she was a year ago!! They are going to recheck her in another year, but for now... NO GLASSES!!! YAY!!!!!

Family trip

Since church was cancelled all over Utah on Sunday (well LDS church anyway), we decided to go on a last minute family fishing trip. Ok lets be honest, Chris and Shelby fished, Morgan and Preston dug for snails and I took pictures and worked on my melanoma. I figured out why people drink while they fish. It's cause you have to be drunk to actually think it's fun. Chris says(imagine me mocking him here) "Fishing is a game of patience, Jana. You need to learn to be more patient." No thanks, I'm all about immediate gratification! lol
Anyway, we ended up having a lot of fun. We only caught one trout but threw it back. We also got rid of the frog (insert gag here), but brought back about a dozen snails, and 1 craw fish that Preston INSISTS is a hamster! hahahaha

BACK TO SCHOOL

When I got home this morning, I walked in to 3 VERY excited kids. The first day of school is a HUGE deal at our house!!! Last night we had our annual Back To School Fashion Show. Every year, the kids put on a fashion show for Daddy and show off all of their new school clothes. Chris totally plays it up too. This year he put on some techno dance music for them to walk down the runway to. The girls REALLY get into it, but in the past, Preston hasn't. However this year, he rocked the runway. He was dancing and striking poses the whole time. It was hilarious. After our fashion show, we usually go out for ice cream. This year we were really pressed for time so we just had ice cream at home then it was baths and bed!
This morning the kids got to pick their favorite breakfast (french toast) and then we got ready for the big day. Preston's first day was actually on Tuesday, but he still had fun getting ready just like the girls did. Once everyone was ready, we walked up to the new bus stop and then Preston and I drove to the school to meet the bus there. (yes I know I'm a nerd for doing this but I don't care!) The girls had a great time. Morgan had a small mishap in PE, but was able to turn the day around anyway. Preston had a great day at preschool.
I can't believe how big they are getting. My babies aren't babies anymore. On one hand this totally breaks my heart on the other hand, I'm thoroughly enjoying watching them grow and experience new things. (For the record: these were not my first choices for the first day of school outfits. The girls picked these and there was no talking them out of it!)

Andra Pandra

Andrea left today to go back to Ohio. She'll be attending school at Ohio Wesylan University and is really excited about it. It was a lot of fun to have her around all summer and we're definitely going to miss her. She's going to try to come back in October for Shelby's baptism though so it won't be so long between visits this time. YAY!!

"EXTREME"

As promised, here are a few pictures of Preston at his first soccer game. His team name is "EXTREME".  It was EXTREME alright...EXTREME CHAOS! It was also extremely adorable! He had a really good time, however Chris and I have decided that American Football is probably better for him. He would run as fast as he could and as soon as the ball came near him, he'd DIVE onto it like he was trying to catch a fumble. He even took a couple of kids out lol. It's a wonder he didn't take a cleat to the face! They didn't even bother having a goalie. It didn't matter though cause the only goal that was scored was in the wrong net hahahahaha oh well they all had fun! And yes, he was the cutest one out there, even though he was drowning in the smallest uniform they make!!!!!!!!!!

Morgan also had a game tonight.  Once again she played nearly the entire game and was AWESOME! Her natural athletic ability amazes me. The Blue Bunny Crusher's won again 3-2. (I don't think that they keep official score yet, but trust me.. We Mom's Do! heehee) About halfway through the game, I could tell she was getting mad (she's got my temper so it's obvious when she's mad lol) During half time, I asked what was wrong and she said that the other team was trash talking. They're SIX and already talkin smack! hahaha

Big Girls

Morgan and Shelby both lost teeth today. I think this is 7 or 8 for Shelby but it's Morgan's 1st!!! She was so excited!
If they keep this up, the tooth fairy may need a loan!!!

Lucky #7

Morgan had her first soccer game today. I know that I'm a little biased, but I have to say, SHE WAS AWESOME!!! Her team, THE BLUE BUNNY CRUSHERS (how funny is that?) won 4-0. She played nearly the entire game and ran her little heart out.  Here are a few pictures.

I asked her what her favorite part of soccer was and she said, "I got new soccer shoes" HAHA She's soooooo my daughter!
Preston's first game is on Wednesday, I'll post pictures then.

Catching Up

It's been a busy week.
Friday- we took the kids to the 24th of July parade in Cedar. It was really a lot of fun and the kids had a blast. After that, Chris' mom took the kids for the weekend. SWEET!!!
Saturday- we went to Escalante for their celebration. I'm a total sucker for small town celebrations like this. Big cities, just aren't the same. I think the kids got more candy at the parade than they get at Halloween.  After the parade, we had Chris' family reunion. We didn't camp this year, but that was perfectly fine with me (I'm not really a camping kinda girl).
Sunday-Chris has apparently decided that he's tired of living like we don't have a dime to spare and went on a shopping spree. I always get a little worried when he heads north to Beaver (the largest gun store in Southern UT is there) He bought his DREAM gun. He was so excited!!! I love seeing him get so excited about things like this. He works sooooo hard and deserves to get fun things every once in a while.  After his purchase, he decided that I needed to get something too so he got me a freaking MACBOOK PRO!  No I'm not kidding!!! I LOVE THIS THING!!! I also totally used my sister and got a new iPOD touch for FREE as a student promo.
I got a MacBook! I got a MacBook! I got a MacBook! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! (It's from Little Rascals.....Charon will get it lol)
Monday-we took Shane down to Vegas to return to OH. He was a lot of fun to have around. Preston ADORED him!!
Tuesday- I spent 6 stinkin' hours auditing the PTA books. Morgan got to play with all the farm animals while we did it. (We were at the new PTA presidents house) She was in HEAVEN. They have a little pony and she played with that thing non-stop. I think the only time she really stopped was when she was gathering eggs. It was adorable!!!
Then, we got a conditional approval to close!!! Just a few more papers and it will finally, officially be ours. So, say a prayer, rub Buddah's belly...whatever you're into, for us.
We also got letter from the girls' teachers. Shelby got Mrs. Fuson and Morgan got Miss Hunsaker. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE both of them!  They also have their 2 best friends/neighbors  in their classes. FUN!

New Beginnings

Today, my boss called me and offered me a full time position at one of our sister facilities. The offer also included a pay raise and benefits (after 90 days) Obviously, I couldn't refuse the offer. I start in August and I am soooooooo excited!!!!!! We think this will be a really good thing for our family if for no other reason than the fact that I will be much happier over there!!!

Pictures

Here are a few pictures of the kitchen. It needs a little more filler around the edges, but I like it.
Today, Andrea took my kids to the Renaissance Fair (these people put NASCAR fans to shame!) just so that they could ride the camels and I could get some sleep. She's such a great aunt and little sister!!! I tried to get Andrea to let me post the video of her camel impression, but she won't let me. hahahaha It's great!! Here's one of the kids along with a picture. Preston came home saying, "Camels is really hairy mom. Look, it got hair all overs me."

Realization

We're finally in our new house and I LOVE IT!! We're still living out of boxes and the house pretty much looks like a bomb went off, but I'm working on it. By the way, if Charlene, Auggie or Britt know where some of the bathroom boxes might have been put, could ya let me know. I can't find any of the hair stuff, so Andrea and I have been looking GREAT! hahahahahaha
I've managed to get my kitchen unpacked and decorated with the help of Andrea and my friend Sonda. I'll post pictures later. We used chicken wire as a garland to create a background for my farm decorations. Chris was a little sceptical at first. I believe his exact words were, "Alright fine. Give it a try. When it looks like shit I guess we're only out 10 bucks." I LOVE the way it turned out! And I'm happy to report that 1) Andrea and Sonda escaped with only minor cuts and scrapes from the wire and 2)Chris liked it when it was done!
One of my favorite things about the new house is that there aren't any stairs!!! I've been able to tuck my kids in and read books to them every night! I love spending those few moments with them every night!!!!
You know how they say that guys marry their mothers? Well tonight, it hit me that 1) Chris' mom and I have almost identical wedding rings 2) we have the same couches 3) we now have almost the same color of carpet and 4) I have her dining room table. When I pointed that out to Chris tonight he busted up laughing and said, "I wondered how long it would take you to realize that about the carpet and the table." Seriously????? lol Now that I'm thinking about it, we used to have basically the same car too. I had a Grand Am and she had a Malibu (they're the same car just with different trim). Obviously, we both have good taste. lol

Funny things for the week:
Preston: Aunt Andrea!
Andrea: What buddy?
Preston: My muscles look sexy when I skateboard down the hill.

Preston:Pwetty pwease wiff a cherry on da top
Me:No
Preston:no (whining) dat means you're supposed to say yes

Preston's New sayings:
"What's your angle?"
"What's the big idea?"
"I said WHAT?" (sing songy)
"Pwetty pwease wiff a cherry on da top?"

KRUMPETS

So, I've told several of you about my new fave store (thanks Tara) it's called Krumpets. It's pretty much the mecca of cheap decor!! I love it. It isn't nearly as big as Tia Pan (aka. "Decorator Heaven") but they have cuter and cheaper stuff!! Everybody has been asking what I got, so here are a few pics.

I also finally found Morgan some horse sheets (WOOHOO!) and got a screamin' deal on the hall bathroom decor!!

We're supposed to move in on Friday!!! Hallelujah!!
