TRICK OR TREAT -HAPPY HALLOWEEN- TRICK OR TREAT

This past week has been a lot of fun.
Thursday- both girls had Halloween parties at dance and Preston had his first party at school. He had so much fun. Apparently, his mask scared all the other kids in his class. His teacher said that one of the little girls (whom Preston CANNOT stand) was particularly scared of it. Mrs. Slack said that he'd put his mask down over his face and sneak up behind her and call her name, then roar at her when she turned around. Mrs. Slack thought it was funny because it's usually Preston that's getting harassed by this little girl.
After dance class, Chris carved pumpkins with the kids. Preston wanted absolutely no part of cleaning the pumpkins out. Since when is he scared of getting dirty?
Friday- the girls had a parade at school. They both got to wear their Halloween costumes and had a really good time.
Chris got home early this afternoon. Mark this day on the calendar! He helped me get the kids dressed and off we went trick or treating.
Shelby's Chakita Banana Lady hat lasted about 5 houses. Oh well, she looked cute.
Morgan's "Hannah Montana" wig lasted about 10 houses, before Chris started wearing it. He looked like a drag queen on crack. It made the kids laugh though, so who cares.
Preston ran as fast as he could to every single house. When he'd get to the door he was DEAD SILENT, then as he ran away (after he got candy) he'd yell, "TRICK OR TREAT HAPPY HALLOWEEN TRICK OR TREAT HAPPY HALLOWEEN" all the way to the next house, then---SILENCE! It was pretty funny.
We got home and Chris started a movie. The girls handed out candy to trick or treaters. Honestly, I think they had more fun doing that than anything. We checked the candy for "questionable pieces". Isn't it funny how many butterfingers, snickers, reeses, and kit kats end up in the questionable pile. At least in our house they do. Wonder why that is?

Just Another Week in Paradise

This week has been great. The kids finally went back to school. WOOHOO!! Whoever thought it was a good idea to give the kids a 5 day weekend, should be taken out into a dark alley and beaten.

Shelby’s field trip on Wednesday was a lot of fun.

Friday night, we took the kids to the schools Halloween Carnival. They were so cute in their costumes. The girls from my work volunteered at the carnival and really had a good time. My kids thought it was really cool to get to see them. I don’t know why they’re fascinated by these girls, but they are.

Today, we had a play date with a couple of their friends. We made Haunted Mansions out of graham crackers. Morgan’s was definitely a little scary. They had fun though and that’s all that matters.

My funny thing for the day. A while back I did a blog on my MySpace that was about things I never thought I’d say until I became a mom. Yesterday, Chris said the granddaddy of them all. He was using some nasal spray in the bathroom and I was laying on the bed. He came walking out of the bathroom mumbling something about the g-dang kids, yanked open the door and yelled for the kids to come here. When they got there, he held up the nasal spray and said, “Which one of you stuck this up your butt?” I busted up laughing and he turns to me and goes “smell this”. I said, “I’m not smelling that.” He said “I swear it smells like butt. Preston did you stick this up your butt?” At this point I was in tears and he was pissed. Finally after I regained the ability to talk I said, “Bet you NEVER thought you’d hear yourself ask that question.” He just busted up laughing and said, “that’s disgusting”. Three guesses who did it!

My Real Life Jack-O-Lantern

I went with Shelby's class today to the Pumpkin Patch in Parogonah. Each student got to pick a pumpkin to take back to the school to decorate. When Shelby asked if I wanted one, I told her, "No, I already have a jack-o-lantern." She's so cute without her teeth. It seems like just yesterday, she was a year old and I was dressing her up as a pumpkin for halloween. Now, she's going on field trips.

A funny side note about the missing teeth. Since she has lost her teeth, she talks with a lisp and mispronounces a lot of her words. I was reading her school journal today. Her teachers have taught her to write the words that she doesn't know how to spell phonetically. So, as I was reading it, I noticed that all of the words are written with a lisp or missing sounds because she's writing them as they sound when she says them out loud!! haha Gotta Love it!

Finally Up and Blogging

Ok, so it's my first time on blogger. Seems like everyone I know has a blog and I was feeling a little bit left out. Yes, I admit it, I'm a total "follower" but, hey, that's ok.
This past week in the Haycock family has been a little crazy. Monday, Morgan had a field trip. Tuesday, Shelby had a field trip. Wednesday was early release. Then, school was out for UEA on Thursday and Friday. Why go to school in October?
This next week should be fun. Monday there is no school (Deer Day) and Shelby has 2 field trips during the week. I'm going with her on Wednesday. I'm actually pretty excited about that one. It's only to the Pumpkin Patch, but it will be fun to go with her. My mom always had to work when I was in school, so she was never able to do stuff like that with me. It's one of the things I swore I was going to do when I had kids.
Chris got us a "new" car. It's actually a boat on wheels. He did some side work for a guy that he went to school with, and he had this car that he was going to get rid of. He gave it to Chris and then called him later and said that his dad had another car that had the same motor (in perfect condition)and he would give that to him too. Chris spent all day yesterday swapping parts. It runs great (of course) and it's actually in a lot better condition than my car. I already desperately miss my Fusion. That's ok though, once we get everything done with our house, I'll get a cute car again.
It's so nice to have a husband that can do stuff like this. He was so proud of it yesterday. It's not a bad car. The interior is really nice and the body is in great shape. Troy just didn't want to put an engine in it. Yesterday, one of the salesmen came down to the shop and was telling Chris that he knows lots of people that have that car and love it. I asked Chris if he went to high school with them. (He's in his 60's) Chris just gave me a dirty look, (but I could tell he wanted to laugh) and reminded me that "One man's trash is another man's treasure."
