This week has been a little calmer around the Haycock house. Sunday afternoon, we just hung out. I realized exactly how disgusting my son is, but that's for another story. Please tell me it's not just my kid. Tell me that all little boys are as disgusting as he is.
Tuesday was a little stressful. If you've never really been around Chris on election day, let me tell ya, it's an experience. He's generally one of the most easy going guys you could ever meet. Throw the election of a moron at him and he gets more than a little testy. All I can say is THANK GOODNESS he's not really into playing sports and stuff like that, cause he's NOT a gracious loser. haha By Wednesday morning he was a little better. He still gets a little worked up over it on occasion, but getting much better. I was excited that, for the first time in months, I didn't have to listen to Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity when he came home for lunch today.
Wednesday-Morgan went to the eye Dr. He said she's near sighted, but that there is a small chance that it will correct itself over the next year or two. He said that near sightedness generally does NOT correct itself, but given her age there's still a chance. He gave us a choice to put her in glasses now or hold off. He said that if we put her in glasses now, there's no chance it will improve because her eyes will just adapt to the correction. So, of course we chose to wait. He says that next school year and definitely by the 2nd grade, when they start actually using the blackboard in class, she'll definitely need help if they don't improve. Soooo lets hope it gets better. She was not happy that we decided to not get glasses for her. I tried to tell her that they are a pain and that she doesn't want them right now, but couldn't be too negative about them, in case she ends up needing them a year from now. Let's face it, I wear glasses (well I don't wear them, but I'm supposed to) all 4 grandparents wear/wore them, all 4 of mine and Chris' uncles wear them, and all the Great Grandparents wear them. It's pretty much inevitable that they're going to end up in glasses at some point. Genetics-the gift that keeps on giving.
On to funner things, Preston started Karate on Wednesday. HE WAS SOOOOO STINKING CUTE!! He gets his GI this upcoming Wednesday. I'll post pictures of him when he gets it. He's taking Kenpo. There is another 3 year old and a 4 year old in the class. The rest are all 6-8 years old. I thought this was a little strange at first, but it actually made a lot of sense once I watched for a while. 1) if you had 10-12 3 or 4 year old little boys, nothing would EVER get accomplished. 2) it gives the older kids a chance to learn leadership. It also gives the little ones people to look up to. 3)the older kids were extremely good with the younger ones. Very encouraging. They even broke into teams of 3 for competitions. I was impressed that the 7 and 8 year olds on Preston's team didn't get upset that they were handicapped by having him on their team. They did their bests to help him and show him what he was supposed to be doing. He thought he was something great being on a team with those guys too.
He spent the entire hour with a huge open mouthed grin on his face. He didn't want to leave. When Chris got home he told him all about it. It's so fun to see him get so excited about something.
Thursday, Preston wasn't so cute. 1st he flushed something down the toilet. We think it's a toothbrush. Nice huh? Chris is going to have to take it off the floor to get whatever it is out. 2nd, he marked all over my wall with not just Sharpie, but INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH SHARPIE! I didn't even realize they made Industrial Strength Sharpie's. I tried the Mr. Clean erasers and they helped, but it's still there. I'm going to have to paint over it. 3rd, he tried to drink out of the milk jug (3/4 full) and spilled the entire thing on the floor. What's sad is, yes I worked last night, but I wasn't even asleep when he did all of these things. I was awake and just doing stuff around the house. SHEESH!!!
I'm working all day Friday and Saturday in addition to my regular shifts. The kids will be at a sitter on Friday, and Chris will have them on Saturday. It's going to kill, but will be so worth it when I have extra Christmas money. ONLY 21 days left til, as Chris calls it, "CRAZY WOMAN FRIDAY". The sneak peaks at the Black Friday ads are already coming out. Chris is already making fun of me, but that's ok. He always acts like he dreads going with me, especially when we're with his family on Thanksgiving. He acts like he thinks it's the dumbest thing he's ever heard of. He gets an attitude about all the people and how ridiculous it is, but by the time it's all over, he's had fun. Who knows, if I keep reminding him of this, he might even make it to the 2nd store before he starts faking a headache. haha
