Are You Ready to Rumble????

Preston had his 1st wrestling match today. For starters we had to travel an hour  to Milford, UT! Weigh in was at 7am.... yes that's right 7 am... so that meant we had to be up by 5am to get there in time.... (Oh the things we do for these little ones!)We got over there and got him weighed in. (He's 46.8 lbs. so he wrestles in the 45-49 pound weight class, in case anyone is wondering) and then waited, and waited, and waited, and..yea you get my point.. Anyhow, while we waited he got warmed up.  These would be his one armed push ups that he was attempting...he could get up but the going back down one handed caused him a few problems!

Then he practiced with his sister. Let's just say that if he can hang with Morgan, he's one HECK of a tough kid... she's a little... what shall we call it? INTENSE!! Yea, I like that word for Morgan!

Ok now, I've never been to a wrestling match before (I went to a WWF match once (letting my redneck roots hang out) but that's not exactly the same thing) I figured it would be a lot like soccer is at this age. The kids really don't care and it's all in good fun. OH HELL NO!!! I was nowhere near prepared for this!  There were kids there with their schools mascot shaved into their heads... we're talking K-5th grade here... not gonna happen in this house!!!  These kids were OUT! FOR! BLOOD! and the coaches and parents... Ya'll think I'm "vocal"? HOLY! CRAP! Chris actually got a kick out of watching me watch some of the other adults! He loves getting to say "I told you so!" and let's just say I heard that several times today!
Preston lost his first 2 matches but won his 3rd.  The first time he didn't quite know what to expect but he tried his hardest. He lost 11-8. The 2nd match, he got pinned and frickin' choked! (Yes you read that correctly..he CHOKED! MY! BABY!) The 3rd one was from the same team as the 2nd one, and he tried that choking crap but Preston was prepared for it this time. Preston beat him 14-0. He placed 3rd in his weight class and got a cool bronze medal. He was SO excited.

Afterward we did something that we NEVER do! Since he did so good he got to go to McDonalds and actually PLAY in the Play Place. (If you know me well, you know I have SERIOUS issues with the PlayPlaces at McD's)

I don't know why we bothered getting them food. They enjoyed the snow more than the food!
All in all it was a great day. Preston started getting really sick after his 1st match, but toughed it out! He's been asleep since we left McDonalds. But, bless his heart he's still wearing his medal and intists that he's got to take it to sharing!

Pa and I had the honor of going to Justin's wrestling matches his Jr and Sr years. We went to Alabama and Lakeland, and Jacksonville all to regional and state meets. He loves wrestling, and says Oklahoma University has the best program. He has not ended up there thought because he really isn't studying material. Oh Yes, Justin is Pa's only grandson, well, by blood. You need to get with the program and get some clothes for that kid. Wrestling clothes make his job easier as he can't be grabbed by the shirt tail. Love ya'll, when you coming down? What is your itinerary?
